Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA

The famous Golden Gate Bridge is the backdrop for one of the best skating areas in the country. On Sundays, half of John F. Kennedy Drive is closed to traffic, and skaters can participate in roller hockey games, veer down a slalom course or hang around 6th Avenue and Fulton Street, where there's music playing and freestyle skating and dancing. A trip to San Francisco wouldn't be complete without participating in the Friday Night Skate, where hundreds of skaters meet weekly at 8:00 p.m. at the Justin Herman Plaza and finish their 12 mile skate around 11:30 p.m.

For more info on the Bay Area skate scene, check out the California Outdoor Rollerskating Association website.
