The Lakes, Minneapolis, MN

The "Birthplace of Inline Skating" offers over 10 miles of paths that surround the downtown Chain of Lakes and overlook the skyline of Minneapolis. Start at the Lake Harriet Bandshell and work your way around Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles. The lakeshores are one vast playland offering volleyball, swimming, and windsurfing.

As you get farther afield, Minneapolis has perhaps the best urban system of paved trails in the country.  You can literally spend days skating on the paved paths.
Additional information and fun can be had by contacting the Minnesota Inline Skate Club, which has a fantastic review of Minnesota skating trails.

Isn't it cold in Minnesota?

An old joke has it that there are two seasons in Minnesota: Winter and July. However, Minneapolis skaters have the advantage of the Rollerblade Rollerdome, which allows skaters to roll indoors from November through April.
